Since his time as head coach of the University of Maryland Men's Basketball team Coach Gary Williams has delivered many speeches around the Washington D.C./Baltimore/Virginia metropolitan area.

Coach Williams Featured Speaker at Smith Business School Speaker Series: Join the Smith community for a compelling evening with Maryland Men's Head Basketball Coach Gary Williams as part of the Smith Speaker Series on Tuesday, Oct. 14 (6:30 - 9 p.m. in Van Munching Hall's Frank Auditorium).A 1968 marketing graduate, Williams returned to Maryland as head coach in 1989, inheriting a basketball team that had only won nine games the year before and finished last place in the ACC. The breakout for Williams came in 1994 when the Terrapins reclaimed a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Williams is now the most winning coach in Terps' history and has 12 NCAA Tournament berths in the last 14 seasons, seven Sweet Sixteen appearances, a pair of consecutive Final Four showings, and the 2002 national championship. The Smith Speaker Series brings dynamic speakers to the greater University of Maryland community—all students, faculty/staff, alumni, and friends are invited to attend. Williams will speak at 7:30 p.m. Plan to come early and stay late to take advantage of the networking receptions!
